Innovation Workshops, organised by the UIC Passenger Services Group, cover industry and technology trends and their impacts on the rail industry. Each workshop combines overviews by industry experts, interactive sessions and co-creation activities enabled by digital collaboration tools.
The next workshop is entitled: “More than just payments: the rise of digital wallets”.
Mobile digital wallets are becoming increasingly popular due to their convenience, security, ease of use and versatility, all which extend far beyond simple payments. For instance, the EU Digital Identity Wallet will empower citizens to manage their digital identities and access a wide array of online and offline services throughout the EU.
In the travel industry, digital wallets offer many features that can enhance the passenger experience, including contactless payments, digital tickets and passes, loyalty programmes, and seamless identity and age verification. In some markets, digital wallets have already emerged as a primary sales channel.
In this workshop, we will explore the latest developments and real-world case histories related to digital wallets. Together, we will discuss the exciting opportunities that these innovations open up for the passenger rail industry.
