The International Union of Railways (UIC, Union Internationale des Chemins de fer) is the worldwide organisation for international cooperation among railways and promotion of rail transport at a global level based in Paris. Founded in 1922, it currently gathers more than 200 members on all 5 continents, among them rail operators, infrastructure managers or vehicle keepers.

Within UIC, security activities are of strategic importance to the organisation and represent growing topics around the world: UIC is involved in many research projects and cooperates with high level institutions in this area.

Mission:

The new Security Research Advisor will participate in all activities of the Security Department, integrating with the existing team composed of 4 persons. Specifically, the candidate will contribute to the preparation, management and facilitation of research projects, organisation of various security events, drafting of recommendations/guidelines on rail security issues and facilitate the running of the Security Platform.

At a minimum, the candidate should have:

Education: Master’s degree
Experience: 2+ years of experience in EU-funded innovation programmes (e.g., Horizon Europe)
Skills:

  • an excellent level in English (spoken and written)
  • project implementation (draft reports, run meetings, analyse data, …)
  • mastery of traditional IT tools (at least Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • very good communication skills (including public speaking), tact and diplomacy
  • ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • excellent analytical ability

Availability to travel; frequent business trips foreseen

Preference for candidates who have:

  • Specific knowledge on security certified by a training programme or a national diploma
  • Professional experience in the railway/public transport domain
  • Previous experience in an intercultural environment

The candidate must hold a European work permit and be available as soon as possible.
